The woman commander
Engineer Anahit Martirosyan went to battlefield in 1991. Azeris had killed her closest person in front of her in Baku.
"One of the reasons for which I went to fight was not to allow them to do what they had done in Baku and Sumgayit", she says.
25 year-old Anahit was serving as a nurse, but due to her courage she was entrusted the leadership of "Anahit" detachment which consisted of male fighters.
Her detachment participated mainly in Mardakert defensive fights. The secret of their victories is devotion, Anahit thinks.
"It was a victory of spirit. Our spirit was stronger then their army", she proudly mentions.
The detachment did not even have transportation means. They were using horses.
Yet in her memories there are some good moments too.
"Our state must know that the victory was due to my friends".
The woman who passed through the war is proud with our army and with her granddaughter who bears her name.
"I love my nation, my Armenia, my battlefield friends", she states.
