Municipal Election fraught with rough violations
Pressure and violations in Sunday's election were mainly exercised by the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Orinats Yerkir (OEK) and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), say members of a local election observation missions.
Federation of Youth Clubs had its 38 members deployed in some 100 polling stations in the Armenian capital to observe the May 5 City Council election. The NGO has registered a number of violations, including gatherings at some precincts, a large number of proxies and observers in one polling station, vehicles with candidates' posters and logos, etc.
Besides, Chairman of the NGO Atom Mkhitaryan notes that during the vote count, the commissions did not follow the sequences of actions.
Chairman of the Electoral Systems Center NGO, Vahram Vardanyan, says the election was fraught with rough violations.
In some polling stations tension was perceived between proxies and commission members. In one polling sttaion a voter wanted to cast two ballots into a box but when he was discovered, he ran away with the ballots in his hand," he said.
