Of all the political forces taking part in the elections of Yerevan Elders Council, "Prosperous Armenia" has gained the widest media coverage.

Today, during a meeting with journalists the President of Yerevan Media Club Boris Navasardyan presented the interim report of the media coverage of May 5 Elections of Yerevan Elders Council.
This time the object of the research were 4 national channels: "H1", "Yerkir Media", "Kentron", "H2", one Yerevan channel: "ArmNews", as well as Public Radio of Armenia and "Armradio FM 107".

"During the first two and a half weeks of the campaign those media have not shown any discrimination to any candidate. "Kentron" is the media, which is especially active in covering the campaign process", Boris Navasardyan said.

According to the President of Yerevan Media Club, the unprecedented fact about these elections is the mainly negative media coverage that RPA receives. "During previous two elections RPA was the leader in the sphere of positive media coverage. On this campaign there were 14 media mentions concerning RPA, 7 of which were of negative character, 6 were positive. This is an unprecedented fact in the history of Armenian elections, as previously no political force in power had so much negative media coverage".

As a negative phenomenon, Boris Navasardyan mentioned the absence of debates.
"I guess, TV companies invite the candidates for debates, yet the latter refuse to come. Especially RPA candidates are always categorical in refusing to participate in debates".
