The Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) is hampering the election campaign of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) because HHK predicts its pending defeat in the May 5 election, says Areg Gevorgyan, a HAK candidate in Yerevan's Council of Elders elections.

"They know that they can achieve results only by brute force and beating," he said.

Levon Zurabyan, Head of the HAK faction, says the non-government forces are likely to unite after the May 5 election.
"We must not let a pro-government candidate be elected Yerevan Mayor. We repeat once again we target at the authorities," he said.

HAK supporters again gathered outside the Prosecutor General's Office in Yerevan for their Friday protest, demanding the release of HAK activist Tigran Arakelyan, who was arrested in 2011 arrested after a standoff with police officers in a Yerevan park
