'We must be strong, powerful and united'
Sooner or later Turkey will have to recognize the Armenian Genocide. That is a matter of time because the lie and falsehood cannot always be taken for granted, Vice Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Eduard Sharmazanov, said at Tsisternakaberd - the memorial dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
He says the international recognition of the tragic crime is an ongoing struggle aimed to protect human rights and prevent the recurrence of such atrocities. Sharmazanov believes that the main covenant of April 24 is to live.
"This is disgrace for the progressive mankind as long as similar atrocities go unpunished, with certain countries still pursuing denial policies," he said.
Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan also emphasized the international recognition of the Genocide. He also stressed the need of using other methods of struggle on the path. "We must be strong, powerful and united," he stressed.
Leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Gagik Tsarukyan, who visited the Genocide Memorial with his son, says we should not wait for the world to recognize the genocide; we should take united measures to reach a solution to the problem.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Tigran Mukuchyan, says April 24 is an integral part of the Armenian history.
"...That is why people visited the Genocide Memorial with their children and grandchildren to pass on to them not only the historical truth, but also the cry of their souls, their fair claim and the unceasing tower kept in their souls for many years," he said.
