Gurgen Yeghiazaryan relies on first President
Gurgen Yeghiazaryan, a member of the Armenian National Congress (HAK), says Armenia's first President and HAK Leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan is the only political figure who can change something in the country.
"I am glad to have worked [for five years] in a team led by Ter-Petrosyan but I am sad that we do not have people like him," says Yeghiazaryan.
He is also proud to say that Levon Ter-Petrosyan was the only president who has not plundered the country.
Yeghiazaryan says Levon Ter-Petrosyan did not run in February's presidential election because of the lack of money. The first president could not ask his teammates for material assistance as his supporters as they were hardly able ‘to meet both ends meet.'
"We did not have finances during the parliamentary election as well. We could not even afford to buy fuel for visiting villages," said Mr Yeghiazaryan.
Speaking about Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian, the HAK member said ‘after realizing that he has nothing else to do in politics, Hovannisian decided to become a standard bearer.
"Holding the flag of the newly-announced "New Armenia" he will go ahead of others. But this will give nothing else besides intoxicating the opposition field for another two years," he concluded.
