Deputy Chairman of the opposition Heritage Party, Armen Martirosyan, has been invited to the Special Investigation Service in connection with the April 9 scuffle on Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan.

Martirosyan, a close associate of Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian, was brutally beaten up and detained in resulting clashes with security forces on the avenue during Hovannisian-led street demonstrations against Serzh Sargsyan's inauguration for a second term. Martirosyan suffered a bleeding face as he was dragged away by police officers and red hats.

A protest action will be staged outside the Prosecutor General's Office at 11.00, April 22 in support of Armen Martirosyan, who tops Heritage's list of candidates for the upcoming mayoral elections in Yerevan.
