Hovhannes Sahakyan: Yerevan citizens love Taron
Citizens of Yerevan really love Taron, Hovhannes Sahakyan, Secretary of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) faction, said meaning the incumbent mayor of Yerevan City Taron Margaryan.
While Sahakyan admits that there are people, who do not like the Republicans, he says it cannot affect Margaryan's reputation.
The HHK representative says his party considers all forces participating in the May 5 municipal election its contenders, while they view HHK as their target.
"All opposition forces seek to be the second. I am not saying this because we are the first and the struggle is led for the second place, but because the opposition forces really have a problem with votes," he said.
Referring to the fact that Taron Margaryan refuses to participate in public debates, Hovhannes Sahakyan said it is their tactics, they have chosen that way of campaigning.
"This speaks of their inaptitude, they are simply trying to blacken Margaryan's name," he added.
The HHK Secretary reminded once again that Margaryan has extensive experience in management and will stay in office till the end if he is elected.
"...If, of course, [Plácido] Domingo does not decide to come to Armenia," he said jokingly.
Hovhannes Sahakyan also said that after Tigran Sargsyan's reappointment to the post of prime minister, the HHK is ready to discuss differences with the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK).
