They came to praise Taron Margaryan
Armenia's people's artist, duduk player Jivan Gasparyan is going to cast his vote for incumbent mayor Taron Margaryan in the May 5 municipal election.
He says Margaryan, who heads the list of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), has beatified the Armenian capital during his tenure in office.
Taron Margaryan has done a lot during a short period of time. He has asphalted streets, plantед trees and I want our mayor to continue the work. A mayor should care for his city and its citizens.
Famed Armenian weightlifter, Olympic champion Yuri Vardanyan also referred to the positive changes in Yerevan. Although the Olympic champ is not registered in Yerevan and cannot participate in the May 5 ballot, he says he has observed many changes in Yerevan since he returned from the US. At the same time, he spoke about the problems existing in the outskirts of the city, especially the situation in high-rise buildings. The advisor to the Armenian president thinks that the situation will improve if citizens pay more money for utility services, for example maintenance of elevators and entrances.
"I live in a high-rise building in Leo street and I pay about $250 for services. I have no complaints as everything is perfect in our building. The more you pay, the more you can demand," he said.
Yuri Vardanyan reminds that the municipality's budget is not so big and no matter who the mayor is and which force he represents he will not be able to change everything at once.
"We should not forget that everything is done within the limits of the budget," he concluded.
