The newly appointed Ambassador of Lebanon to Armenia, Jean Makaron, handed on Monday the copies of his credentials to Armenia's acting Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

Edward Nalbandian congratulated the ambassador on the appointment and wished him success in his mission. The Armenian official voiced hope that Jean Makaron will contribute to the reinforcement of historic and traditionally warm relations between Armenia and Lebanon.

Nalbandian said the reciprocal visits of the two presidents during the past two years have given new impetus to Armenian-Lebanese relations.

In his turn, the Lebanese Ambassador said he would exert his maximum efforts to promote the cooperation. He added that Lebanon underscores the need to deepen partnership with Armenia, and stressed the role of the Lebanese-Armenian community in the development and prosperity of Lebanon.

The interlocutors also referred to the developments in the Middle East and particularly the situation in Syria.
