Petros Makeyan sees the same model
In order to fix the victory of the opposition it is necessary to form a committee which will be named "Armenia," says the Chairman of the Democratic Homeland Party.
"I imagine that it will have the same model as that of the Karabakh movement and I believe that our efforts will be finally crowned with victoty," Petros Makeyan told reporters on Monday.
Speaking about the April 9 clashes between the riot police and supporters of Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian, Mr Makeyan said," Despite the criticism against the leader of BAREVolution movement, Hovannisian was able to overcome the post-electoral developments with minimal losses, avoiding repetition of the March 2008 tragic events.
Asked whether the Chief of Armenian Police Vladimir Gasparyan was able to save the situation with his appearance on Baghramyan Avenue [where the presidential palace is situated] Mr Makeyan said at least Gasparyan was able to reduce tension on the avenue.
The leader of the Chairman of the Democratic Homeland Party stressed that the May 5 municipal elections in Yerevan are political as political parties are participating in them, and economic, as Yerevan is a community.
Petros Makeyan who is included in the list of Barev Yerevan alliance of several parties including Raffi Hovannisian's Heritage Party, says they will form a majority once the elections are free and fair. "Barev Yerevan bloc will have an opportunity to take Yerevan," he said.
Makeyan also wished success to mayoral candidate Vahagn Khachatryan saying he has great experience in management.
