Ter-Petrosyan was the only person not to leave square
In the last two and a half months, Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian has not established any contact with people. He acted the way he wanted, says Zoya Tadevosyan, a senior member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK).
"Hovannisian's biggest mistake was that he left people alone on Baghramyan Avenue, face to face with the police," she said.
Zoya Tadevosyan, says it is wrong to compare Hovannisian's steps with those of [HAK leader] Levon Ter-Petrosyan during the March 2008 post-election unrest.
"Levon Ter-Petrosyan stayed at the square till the last moment. People were beaten and driven away from the square but Ter-Petrosyan was the only person to sit at the square till the last moment," she recalled.
Speaking about the forthcoming municipal elections, the HAK member said they would do their upmost to exclude vote rigging. She says after the February presidential election the authorities came to realize that people hate them.
She hopes that in the upcoming election ‘people will make a worthy and dignified choice and will not open their doors before criminals.'
"The ruling Republican Party is well aware of people's attitude towards the party and is doing its best to focus people's attention on their stooge, acting mayor Taron Margaryan, but Margaryan is the person who robbed people of their property," said the HAK member.
