Armenian Catholicos receives Romanian official
His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received on Tuesday Valeriu Ștefan Zgonea, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania.
The Catholicos spoke about the friendly ties between the two peoples, saying that thanks to the strong faith and humanitarian spirit of the Romanians, Armenians in Romania were able to build their spiritual and cultural values, contribute to the country's daily life, and live with the Romanian people. Karekin II also stressed that the Church stands close to the roots of the friendship between the two nations.
Valeriu Ștefan Zgonea, for his part, stressed the need to further consolidate relations between Armenia and Romania, saying that history and culture bring the two peoples closer. He also emphasized the role of the Church in establishing peace.
Present at the meeting were also - Bishop Ezras Nersesian, head of the Novo-Nakhichevan and Russian diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Bishop Tatev Hakobyan, Prelate of the Romanian-Armenian Diocese, and Krina Rodika Prunariu, Romania's Ambassador to Armenia.
