Chairman of the Union of Political Scientists says by his decision to stop a 21-day hunger strike on Easter Sunday Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian took a controversial step.

"Before starting the hunger strike, Hovannisian said it was not a fast, it was a form of political struggle while yesterday after ending the hunger strike, Hovannisian announced that he had been fasting," said Hmayak Hovhannisyan.

He says in the result of post-election "raunchy processes" the highly emotional and energetic crowd in Freedom Square faded away and suffered a defeat.

"They lost because of the processes over the hunger strike which aroused suspicions among people," said Mr Hovhannisyan.

The Chairman of the Union of Political Scientists also disagrees with Hovannisian's statement that power must be shared with the people.

"Power is ether returned to people or alienated from them. If Serzh Sargsyan has stolen the power, violating the will of people, then how can you [Raffi Hovannisian] negotiate with Sargsyan on the issue because the thief, the plunderer, will not share the loot with another thief," he said.

Hmayak Hovhannisyan says in the given situation Raffi Hovannisian has two options: he has to prove that people did not give the power to the acting authorities or activate people and carry out a velvet revolution.
