Paruyr Hayrikyan arrived in Amsterdam
Ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan has left a message on his Facebook account, saying that he has already arrived in the Netherlands where he will undergo treatment following the assassination attempt upon him in January 2013. In the post, Hayrikyan also referred to the government's decision to allocate 20.5 million drams for his treatment abroad.
"My dear friends,
Yesterday I expressed my sincere gratitude to the staff of the Red Cross and left for Europe today morning. I had some fears about the pending difficulties en route but I was able to overcome them. We stopped in Kiev; it also helped me to rest a little. We arrived in Amsterdam before the noon and I have already managed to see a doctor. The first thing they said was that I survived the shooting attack by a miracle.
I also learnt that some meagers were excited to know that our healthcare sytem will be participating in the process of my recovery. Do not pay attention to them. There have always been riffraffs. Where were their parents when my parents were waiting for my return for 20 years? When two months ago I was suffering froma acute pain, these people were not spotted in the arena. Now that they heard that the country is doing for me what a country must do for its citizens, they have flown into a rage. Let us neglect their envy and poison...
I am in Amstredam now and everything depends on the process of my recovery.
