Yerevan's next mayor will be from the new opposition alliance named "Barev Yerevan" (Hello Yerevan), says Armen Martirosyan, Vice-chairman of the Heritage party, who heads the electoral list of the opposition alliance in the upcoming municipal elections in Yerevan.

The Heritage representative says the forthcoming elections will significantly differ from the parliament and presidential elections.

"This time we shall be able to seriously monitor and control the process, as the area is small," he said.
Mr Martirosyan also highlights the campaign of other forces that are participating in the municipal elections slated for May 5.

"Barev Yerevan" is among the seven parties and blocs that filed applications with the Central Election Commission (CEC) for the registration in the May vote. The other forces are the ruling Republican Party (HHK), Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and Armenian Revolutionary Federation -Dashnaktsutyun.

Campaigning for the elections is due to start on April 7.
