Raffi Hovannisian’s mother on his hunger strike
One can see numerous posters reading ‘I am fine' on and around the bench where Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian is sitting.
"Raffi Hovannisian is in good health condition," Hovannisian's mother Varditer Kocholozian-Hovannisian said in conversation with A1+.
She found it difficult to say under which circumstances she would urge her son to stop the hunger strike.
"History and deeds are not created within hours. When you marry someone you do not ask your spouse how long you are going to live together. You tie the knot and become one soul. Likewise, people should become one soul here," said Mrs Varditer.
Raffi Hovannisian started hunger strike on March 10 in protest against the official results of the February 18 presidential election in the capital's Freedom Square. The Heritage leader, who to be the rightful winner of the February ballot that gave about 59 percent of the vote to Serzh Sargsyan, will continue his hunger strike and street protests until Sargsyan's inauguration for a second term due on April 9. At a Friday rally, Hovannisian set his demands to the Sargsyan administration, that include calling pre-term parliamentary elections on party-list basis and appointing to top positions candidates suggested by Hovannisian. Today Serzh Sargsyan responded to the Heritage leader and said he was ready to start a dialogue with Hovannisian based on the proposals made by the Heritage leader.
"I ask you to stop your hunger strike and recover, and within one or two days both of us will take up pens and paper and start serious work, without making a show out of it, even assuming your very raw writing as a basis," Sargsyan said in his response letter.
