HAK supporters protesting outside Prosecutor's Office
The Cassation Court decided to consider the appeal of the opposition activists after receiving the letter of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Levon Zurabyan, Head of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction, said on Friday outside the Prosecutor General's Office.
The opposition bloc is continuing its Friday protests outside the Prosecutor's Office, demanding the immediate release of its jailed activists, Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan, Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramijyan, who were arrested after an August 9, 2011, standoff with police officers in a Yerevan park and sentenced to 2-6 years in prison.
Zurabyan considers the answer of the Committee to be a message to the Armenian authorities.
"The answer suggests that the Committee actually acknowledges that Tigran Arakelyan is a political prisoner," said Mr Zurabyan.
