Nerses Bedros XIX to attend inauguration of Pope Francis
Catholicos Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics, Nerses Bedros XIX, will attend the inauguration of newly elected Pope Francis slated for March 19, the Head of the Catholic Armenians in Armenia, Georgia, and Eastern Europe Archbishop Raphael Minassian told armenpress.am.
"Unfortunately, I cannot attend the inauguration ceremony, but His Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of Cilicia of the Armenian Catholics Nerses Bedros XIX will represent the Armenian Catholic Church at the inauguration," said Raphael Minassian.
His Eminence will depart for Poland to discuss preservation of the Armenian manuscripts. Raphael Minassian will also have a meeting with the Armenian community of Poland, Cardinals of the Catholic Church, and statesmen. The meeting between the Archbishop Raphael Minassian and the Pope of Rome is scheduled for April 14. The Archbishop is hopeful that in the course of the meeting they will also touch upon issues regarding the Armenians.
