Protest demo to he beld outside US Embassy in Yerevan
A group of Yerevan citizens will gather outside the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan at 3.00 to express their disappointment and disagreement with U.S. President Barack Obama, who congratulated Serzh Sargsyan on his re-election later last week.
"Similar behavior by an influential country that is largely viewed as a democratic state devaluates the idea of democracy, making it as a tool to pursue their private interests in the region at the expense of our national interests. The countries that recognized the results of the rigged presidential election in Armenia legitimize the crimes of the regime, thereby hindering establishment of democracy in Armenia.
Illegitimate authorities cannot withstand the superpowers that pressurize them, forcing them to conclude anti-state bargains. The recognition of the Armenian Genocide has been placed on the altar in the past five years.
The congratulatory messages of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and President Barack Obama suggest that Serzh Sargsyan will have to sacrifice Artsakh in his second term of his presidency," the organizers said in a statement.
