Healthcare Minister visits Andrias Ghukasyan
Minister of Healthcare Derenik Dumanyan today visited presidential candidate Andrias Ghukasyan, who has been on hunger strike for 18 days. Mr Dumanyan urged the candidate to undergo medical examination within two days to make sure that the strike has not caused health problems. The minister has left the choice of the hospital on the candidate.
"There may be serious changes in the organism of a person starting from the 20th day of the hunger strike. We are obliged to examine and assess the candidate's health condition and inform him about the possible interventions in case of complications," said the minister.
He added that the presidential hopeful would be examined by the best specialists of the country.
"We must do it to avoid irreversible consequences," said the minister.
Mr Ghukasyan thanked the minister for the visit, adding that he will give an answer by the end of the day.
"In case the candidate's condition deteriorates so much that he is unable to speak, he will be transferred to hospital without his consent," Mr Dumanyan added.
