Paruyr Hayrikyan to apply to CC today
Presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan, who was wounded by unknown gunmen in Yerevan on the night of January 31, is going to apply to the Constitutional Court with a request to delay the February 18 poll, Hayrikyan told A1+.
He will request the Court to postpone the election as he is unable to continue the campaign due to his health condition. Hayrikyan also said that he wanted to withdraw from the race but his supporters did not allow him to do it.
The presidential election is slated for February 18.
According to Armenia's Constitution, the election could be postponed by two weeks if a candidate is unable to campaign or run. In the event of a candidate's death, a new election is called, to be held within 40 days.
