Considering the appeal of the Armenian Central Election Commission, Health Minister Derenik Dumanyan will visit presidential candidate Andrias Ghukasyan later on Friday to get more information on his health problems.

Earlier on February 8, the Central Election Commission issued a statement, calling on the presidential candidate [Andrias Ghukasyan] to stop the hunger strike and take steps towards avoiding health complications.

"Being concerned over the presidential candidate's health condition, we call on him to stop the hunger strike and undertake steps to avoid complications. At the same time we call on the Health Ministry to make health condition of the presidential candidate a subject for discussion and voice a professional opinion over it," the CEC said in the statement.

Andrias Ghukasian, one of the eight candidates in the Armenian presidential race, has been camped outside the National Academy of Sciences building in Yerevan since the start of the presidential campaign on January 21, 2013. He demands that incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan be barred from seeking re-election. Also, he demands that international observers leave Armenia.
