Sharmazanov welcomes contrition by Turkish political circles
Vice-Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Eduard Sharmazanov, welcomes the frequent manifestations of contrition by the Turkish political circles.
Commenting on the recent statement of Ahmet Turk, Chairman of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP), in which he apologized to the Armenian people for Kurds' involvement in the Armenian Genocide, Mr Sharmazanov said, ""I highly appreciate Ahmet Turk's appeal to [Turkey's Prime Minister] Recep Tayyip Erdogan to stop the denial of the crime committed by the Young Turks, to accept the fact and to apologize to Armenians.
The statement of the Kurdish politician should serve as an example for Turkey's leadership to reconcile with the painful chapters of their history and to apologize to the Armenians and other peoples who have been subjected to genocide."
