Armenia's Central Election Commission (CEC) calls on presidential candidate Andrias Ghukasyan to stop the hunger strike and take steps towards avoiding health complications, considering the media reports in connection with the deteriorating health condition of the presidential contender.

In a statement released on February 8, the CEC also urges the Health Ministry to make health condition of the presidential candidate a subject for discussion and express a professional opinion over it.

Andrias Ghukasian, one of the eight candidates in the Armenian presidential race, has been camped outside the National Academy of Sciences building in Yerevan since the start of the presidential campaign on January 21, 2013. He demands that incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan be barred from seeking re-election. Also, he demands that international observers leave Armenia.
