HAK urges authorities to reveal incident

The Armenian National Congress (HAK) calls on the authorities to reveal the recent incident involving presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan, Head of HAK faction Levon Zurabyan said at Grigor Lusavorich hospital, where he came to visit the wounded presidential candidate [Paruyr Hayrikyan]. At this moment, the opposition alliance refrains from making assessments on the shooting.

Paruyr Hayrikyan, Chairman of the National Self-Determination Union, was rushed to hospital yesterday evening to be treated for what appeared to be a nonfatal gunshot wound. The candidate was attacked in a central Yerevan street and was reportedly wounded in the right collarbone.

Gagik Manukyan, Deputy Director of Grigor Lusavorich medical centre, says Hayrikyan's condition is satisfactory after the surgery.

"He has awakened from narcosis and feels a little sleepy," said the doctor.

Hayrikyan will stay in the intensive care unit for another 2-3 days and then he will be transfereed to a ward.
