If in real life the presidential campaign is held in an unusual atmosphere, in virtual life it is more predictable.

Laura Baghdasaryan, Director of the Region Research Center, follows the campaign on social networking websites like Facebook. She has observed activation of social networks as a propaganda tool which was not the case in the May 2012 parliamentary election.

The presidential candidates, who are lesser known in public, first submitted their bids to contest the February 18 ballot on Facebook. All presidential hopefuls, except incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan, already have their electorate on Facebook.
