Serzh Sargsyan has sent a letter of condolences to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in connection with Tuesday's plane crash near Almaty.

In the letter, Mr Sargsyan conveys his sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims.

On January 29, at around 1.13 p.m. (local time) a Canadian-made passenger plane Challenger-200 flying from Kokshetau to Almaty crashed in heavy fog near an Almaty airport, killing all 21 people aboard - 16 passengers and five crewmembers.

There was one ethnic Armenian among the victims. Svyatoslav Babayan was a trainee pilot at Challenger-200.
