CC turns down Safaryan's complaint
Armenia's Constitutional Court today rejected the application of Heritage party member Stepan Safaryan who was challenging the results of a December 2 by-election in Yerevan's Avan and Nor-Norq district (Precinct 1).
The suit was considered a written order.
Safaryan's main rival was Robert Sargsyan, a candidate of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), the brother-in-law of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan who reportedly won the December 2 election at the given precinct. The parliamentary seat was vacated after former HHK MP Ruben Hayrapetyan laid down his mandate over the Harsnakar deadly incident.
