Aram Harutyunyan to drop out of race

One of the presidential candidates in Armenia, Chairman of the National Concord party Aram Harutyunyan has decided to drop out of the presidential race.

On February 7, he will go on a one-day hunger strike in front of the Central Electoral Commission and withdraw his candidacy the following day.

With the move, Mr Harutyunyan urges the other presidential hopefuls to discontinue the struggle, leaving Serzh Sargsyan alone in the race.

The candidate adds that the second stage of his mission is going to start soon. ''Those who are not going to vote in the election will need a new leader and I can be one of those leaders," he said.

The chairman of the National Concord party does not rule out the possibility of cooperating with Armenian National Congress (HAK), Prosperous Armenia party - (BHK) and Armenian revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) and with all those forces that will leave the race and share his opinion on the election scenario.
