The Armenian National Congress (HAK) opposition bloc has resumed its Friday protests outside the Prosecutor General's Office after a two-week break.

With the move, the opposition bloc calls for the release of its jailed activists- Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan, Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kiramijyan, who were arrested after an August 9, 2011, standoff with police officers in a Yerevan park and sentenced to 2-6 years in prison.

The participants of the action believe that the Cassation Court, which is to reach a verdict on the case on January 27, can acquit the activists without any obstacles.

"HAK is not contesting the presidential election slated for February 18, hence the boys cannot stand in the way of the authorities," said Lernik Maghakyan, a participant of the action.
