No Armenians among hostages in Algeria
Preliminary reports received from the Algerian Foreign Ministry say there are not Armenian citizens among the foreigners taken hostage in the country, the Armenian Foreign Ministry says.
Earlier AFP quoting Al Jazeera television reported about an Armenian citizen taken as hostage in Algeria.
On January 16, Islamist militants attacked a gas field in eastern Algeria, killing two people and seizing hostages, including Westerners. The incident was immediately linked to France's military support for the government of nearby Mali.
A number of foreign workers are reported to have been killed in the later military operation to free the hostages.
