Aram Sargsyan promises to speak later
Commander of the Sasun detachment and member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), Sasun Mikaelyan, says time will show which of the presidential candidates he will support in February's elections.
"I'm always going in the right direction," Mr Mikaelyan said on December 24 during a meeting with journalists.
Chairman of the Hanrapetutyun (Republic) Party, Aram Sargsyan also refrained from answering the question. "I shall express my opinion when the candidates are officially nominated," he said.
Mr Sargsyan also declined to comment on [HAK leader] Levon Ter-Petrosyan's possible nomination. "Why should I speak on the issue? You had better address the question to Ter-Petrosyan's teammates."
When reminded that his team has concentrated on Armenia's relations with the West and Russia, and the ongoing Russia-West fight for Armenia, Mr Sargsyan said he does not tend to divide the political field into two parts and believes that everyone is pro-Armenian.
"We are on good terms and do not libel each other," said Mr. Sargsyan.
Sasun Mikaelyan and Aram Sargsyanb today attended the congress of the Azatutyun (Liberty) party which named Hrant Bagratyan as its presidential candidate in February's elections.
