Thirty-nine of the 450 delegates of the Hanrapetutyun (Republic) party did not attend the party's six session for valid reasons.

Before electing new members of the political board, Hanrapetutyun party member Suren Abrahamyan announced that party's founding member Smbat Ayvazyan had asked him not to nominate his candidacy in the election since ‘he is engaged in serious political and social activities.'
"I ask you to honour Ayvazyan's request. We are good friends and his decision is acceptable for us," said Mr Abrahamyan.

Aram Sargsyan was re-elected as Chairman of the party's political board. The congress also adopted a resolution whereby the party promises to be actively and efficiently engaged in politics, and restore the constitutional order and democracy in the country. The document stipulates that the party cooperates with those political, social forces and individuals who bear the aforesaid ideas.

"We shall strive to reinstate people's will, faith, and political activism. Our ideological pillar is based on our people," reads the document.
