Aram Sargsyan: There is no need to wiretap me
Leader of Hanrapetutyun (Republic) party, Aram Sargsyan, understands all those who blame him for cooperating with the authorities.
"These people are trying to present the situation the way they want. The political arena in Armenia has divided into two parts: you should either agree to the cooperation between the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), or support Serzh Sargsyan. I am against all of them - Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharyan, BHK and I do not have any desire to cooperate with them. I am not interested in their opinion concerning my decision," Mr Sargsyan said during the recurrent session of his party.
The Leader of Hanrapetutyun party says he has publicly disapproved the cooperation between the BHK and HAK. "I also told my opinion to Armenia's first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, and there is no need to wiretap my conversations. I have no secrets. Wiretapping is a method used by KGB, it is an immoral method. I am not in the habit of listening to others' conversation; I will not even eavesdrop on my son who is talking near me. This is a matter of upbringing," he said.
Present at the meeting was HAK member Sasun Miakelyan who refused to give assessments to the political developments, saying he would give a final press conference by the year-end.
The session was opened by Suren Abrahamyan, a senior member of the party, who said that the cooperation with the HAK had somewhat overshadowed his party's activity.
Ararat Zurabyan, former chairman of the All-Armenian National Movement (HHSh) was also present at the meeting.
