HAK still holding consultations
Can Saturday's meeting of Serzh Sargsyan and Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) leader Gagik Tsarukyan hamper the cooperation between BHK and opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) during the upcoming presidential polls?
"It is no use speaking about it as there is no official information available," says HAK member Vladimir Karapetyan.
Irrespective of BHK's position, the opposition bloc will soon inform the public about the format of its participation. With regard to [HAK Leader] Levon Ter-Petrosyan's possible nomination as the country's president, Mr Karapetyan said, "Discussions are still ongoing though we have little time left."
Levon Zurabyan, Head of the HAK faction, says he does not have credible information on Saturday's meeting either; therefore he could not give any comments.
Regarding the opposition's chances to name a single candidate for February's president election, Mr Zurabyan said, "Let us first finish the consultations and finalize our discussions, then we shall inform the public about our decision."
While the political forces are discussion the issue of their candidates, young activists of the opposition alliance say they already have a candidate in the person of Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
