The opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) is continuing its Friday protests outside the Prosecutor General's Office in Yerevan, with a demand to immediately release of its four jailed activists.

"Should our authorities have at least nail-size wit, we would not be here today. They seem to be keeping the boys in jail deliberately to make us continue the struggle," says Aram Harutyunyan, Chairman of the Pan-Armenian National Movement (HHSh).

Carrying posters reading "Punish the Judge!" "We have Criminal Judges" they gathered near the Prosecutor General's Office at around 2.00 p.m. HAK MP Aram Manukyan and Levon Zurabyan gave welcome addresses.

Participating at the protest were also members of the Hakaharvats (Counterblow) art group who had been taken to the Kentron Police Department from an underground passage earlier today. The boys were set three two hours later.
"Police officers banned us from posting a poster in the underground passage. Latter they detained us in another passage where we were trying to place the same posters," said Tatul Saroyan, a member of the art group.

HAK activists Tigran Arakelyan, David Kiramijyan, Sargis Gevorgyan and Artak Karapetyan were taken into custody after an August 2011 standoff with police officers in a Yerevan park. They were charged with hooliganism against a representative of law-enforcement body and sentenced to 2-6 years in prison.
