Opinion: HAK had to choose the lesser evil
Doctor of Political Sciences Levon Shirinyan says by agreeing with the parliamentary majority to postpone the formation of a parliamentary interim committee to probe into the deadly March 2008 clashes, the Armenian National Congress (HAK) solved the problem of keeping its electorate.
His opponent, political analyst Armen Baghdasaryan holds a different opinion on the issue.
"In the given situation, the opposition alliance [HAK] had to choose the lesser evil," he said.
On December 3, the parliamentary majority led by Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan agreed to vote for the establishment of an opposition-proposed ad hoc committee to study the 2008 post-election clashes after February's presidential election.
