French Senate hosts discussion on Karabakh issue
A roundtable discussion entitled "Nagorno-Karabakh: Peace and Dialogue" was held at the French Senate on November 29.
The meeting featured members of the Armenia-France Parliamentary Friendship Group, who are now in France upon the initiative of Friendship Group President Philippe Kaltenbach, as well as French senators, experts and journalists.
The discussion was opened by Bulgarian journalist Tsvetana Paskaleva who spoke of different episodes of the war period. The documentary "Will Dawn return to Karabakh?" featuring wartime developments in the country was screened after the journalist's speech.
The historic and geopolitical aspects of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict were presented during the discussions. Speeches were made by former co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Bernard Fassier, French Senators, Armenian MPs, as well as historians and experts.
The participants of the roundtable discussion stressed the importance of ensuring the security of the Artsakh people, condemned Azerbaijan's bellicose rhetoric and Safarov's extradition from the point of view of human values and the efforts to establish a mutual trust in the region. They stressed that there cannot be any alternative to the peaceful settlement and called for measures to prepare the societies for peace, Armenia's Foreign Ministry reports.
