Armenian MP Artak Zakaryan is not concerned that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs refused to become the first passengers of the newly-opened Stepanakert airport.

"They tried to maintain the balance," he said.
At the same time, he disagrees with the international peace brokers' statement that the newly reconstructed airport can fuel tension if put into operation.

"On the contrary, the operation of the airport will take closer of the peaceful settlement of the conflict and bring final peace in the region," said Mr Zakaryan.
The MP reminds that everyone, including the residents of Karabakh, have the right to free movement. He is sure that Azerbaijan will never fulfill its threats to shoot down civilian aircraft entering its airspace.

Speaking about the interior political developments, the Republican MP said that Serzh Sargsyan will be re-elected for a second term in office, ‘recording new achievements and success for Armenia.'

Asked what hindered Serzh Sargsyan from prospering the country and curbing emigration during his first tenure of office, Artak Zakaryan gave a short answer, blaming it on the global economic crisis.

The Republican MP is convinced that the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Gagik Tsarukyan, will not stand for president and will support Serzh Sargsyan.
"Today BHK is facing the issue of solving its future problems and is not thinking of having a presidential candidate," he said.

The MP also expressed conviction that the opposition will not field a joint candidate in the presidential election as each party pursues its own goal.
