US President and Armenia’s weight

The results of the U.S. presidential elections will not have a significant impact on the Armenian-American relations, political analyst Ervand Bozoyan told reporters on Wednesday.

"Obama's re-election is beneficial for the region, particularly Iran and Syria, as the Democrats have a more moderate position in their issue than the Republicans. It does not mean that the United States will stop its policy towards Syria, but if Romney won the elections, that would increase the possibility of US intervention in Syria," he said.

Asked whether Obama's re-election can influence on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the United States, the political analyst said the recognition does not depend on the US as much as on Armenia's weight in the international arena.

"The heavier that weight is, the tougher formulations will be. Once Armenia weakens its weight, they cannot even utter Meds Yeghern," he concluded.
