The Armenian National Congress (HAK) and Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) are not dancing Tango as it is danced by two persons. In this case, one of the sides is not eager to dance, says Director of the Regional Studies Center (RSC) Richard Giragosian.

The political scientist says the two forces are unlikely to cooperate as they are represented by powerful individuals. "We know from Armenia's political history that political alliances are not formed unexpectedly," he stressed.

Richard Giragosian believes that the BHK has serious conflicts with its former coalition partner - the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), and the dispute may further deepen ahead of the presidential elections.

"Even if the BHK does not nominate a presidential candidate, the contradiction between the two forces is evident," Mr Giragosian said citing the criminal charges against [BHK MP] Vartan Oskanian as evidence of his words.

The political analyst thinks Serzh Sargsyan will be re-elected in the elections as there is not a viable alternative to him.

Speaking about the upcoming presidential elections in the USA, the RSC Director said ‘it will be more beneficial for Armenians if incumbent President Barack Obama is re-elected.'

"Romney is a more dangerous candidate since he does not have a full notion about the Karabakh conflict. Romney is indifferent in this issue and I think he will be more interested in Azerbaijani oil," said Mr Giragosian.
