Chairman of the Council of the Armenian Public Television and Radio Company presented at the National Assembly the report of the Council's activity for 2010. The discussion of the issue had been canceled for ‘good cause,' said Alexan Harutunyan whose second term in office ends in February 2013.

Republican MP Margarit Yesayan asked Mr Harutyunyan whether he was leaving the post content with his work. In reply, the council official said he had managed to do everything. Yesayan's next question was about the bad influence of series and the closing of a children's program.

"We can constantly discuss the theme of soap operas but I would like to mention that one of them - General's daughter - has had a good influence, especially in military units. The responses from military units testify to it. Regarding the closing of children's program I must say that it was closed along with other programs surviving from the USSR period. If you are eager to see the program back, you can discuss the issue with Shoghakat TV," he said.

Nikol Pashinyan, a lawmaker from the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), asked the council chairman about the prices for ads on Public TV (H1).

"Your annual revenue from ads totals AMD 624 million. So, the income from one-hour broadcast amounts AMD 71 000 while rumor has it that it is the price for one-minute broadcast," said Pashinyan.

Alexan Harutunyan could not give a definite answer while Pashinyan advised him to check all figures and present them in a new report.
