Leader of the Free Democrats Party, Khachatur Kokobelyan, will no longer represent the opposition Heritage Party, Heritage faction Chairman Ruben Hakobyan announced in the National Assembly on Oct. 22. Heritage took the decision in its recent session, said Hakobyan.

For his part, Mr Kokobelyan said he had proposed at the meeting to remove Rubik Hakobyan from the party. He also reminded that in accordance with initially adopted regulations Heritage is the joint faction of Heritage, Free Democrats and public sector.

"I do not want to discuss the party's internal problems in the National Assembly. However, I want to announce that being representatives of the public sector, Alexander Arzumayan and I will formally remain in the faction, representing Free Democrats," said Kokobelyan.

At the beginning of today's parliament session, NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan congratulated Heritage member Tevan Poghosyan for taking up a mandate after Heritage Leader Raffi Hovannisian gave up his seat in parliament.

MPs of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) are participating in the four-day sitting. During the previous sitting, they boycotted parliament's work in protest to National Assembly's decision to strip BHK MP Vartan Oskanian of his mandate.

During the sitting, Heritage MP Zaruhi Postanjyan asked NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan about the ‘fate of the shameful Armenian-Turkish Protocols.'

"Let me disagree with you as the documents are not shameful. The RA President has not proposed us to withdraw the protocols from the NA agenda," said Mr Abrahamyan.
