Raffi Hovannisian: Truth is above all else
The relations between Raffi Hovannisian, Leader of the opposition Heritage Party, and Khachatur Kokobelyan, Leader of the Free Democrats Party, are getting even worse.
The misunderstanding emerged when Kokobelyan refused to give up his parliament seat after Raffi Hovannisan urged him to follow suit.
The leader of the Free Democrats Party was elected to the National Assembly on a joint slate with Heritage last May.
"Khachatur Kokobelyan has personally divulged his recurrent lie and I really regret about it. I especially regret for those young people [from Free Democrats and Heritage parties] who fully devoted to the previous election campaign," Raffi Hovannisian said in a statement issued on Friday.
The joint struggle was not a mistake. It was a novelty, somewhat risky, but solid and future-oriented.
The error lies in one person who deceived us and in the unjustified confidence of all those who believed that man. That confidence does not exist any longer. Everything else is to be decided between him and Lord.
I could remain silent out of political expediency but after waiting patiently and tolerantly I preferred to proclaim the truth as a as a liability claim before my fellow citizens, Mr. Hovannisian said adding that it is not desirable to support Kokobelyan in any issue.
