RA Premier: Officials will be made accountable for budget violations
Armenia's Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan started today's government session referring to his recent visit to Shirak marz (province).
"AMD 270 million was allocated for school construction in Mets Mantash village of the marz, but, according to the preliminary reports, AMD 200 million has been misused. The school building is still considered to be third-degree unsafe. It means the expenses were senseless. We observed the same picture in School No. 5 in Masis city. Earlier, violations were discovered in the National Library building. I regret to say that large-scale misuse of money has been reported in the school-building sector which has been declared a priority by the executive.
I have been informed that all these cases have been handed over to the Prosecutor General's Office and we are eager to see the guilty ones punished," said the Armenia premier.
"Also, the annual reports of the Finance Ministry's Internal Audit Department present drawbacks and shortfalls concerning budget allocations. Heretofore, we were just instructing corresponding departments to address the drawbacks and recover the money. But, from now on, the officials will be held accountable for the reported violations," he continued.
Tigran Sargsyan instructed the Cabinet members to warn their department heads and other persons in charge that they would bear personal responsibility for misusing the state budget.
