Lawyers demand prosecutor’s resignation
Tigran Atanesyan, who is the defense lawyer of BHK deputy Vartan Oskanian, believes that “the whole nation should demand the resignation of the prosecutor general, there is no alternative”.
Atanesyan said that after yesterday’s speech of the prosecutor, he has no anti-arguments to make Aghvan Hovsepyan understand that Oskanian did not embezzle money from Civilitas, he only brought money.
The lawyer of the Civilitas Foundation does not see any logic in the charges brought against Oskanian, for this reason he believes that “the prosecutor general should resign because it is a shame”.
Nikolas Kyuyumjyan, an international criminal law expert, is currently in Armenia. He learnt of the Oskanian case by accident. He knows that the former foreign minister is persecuted as an oppositionist. “It is no coincidence that on May 24 Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) announced its decision not to enter into the coalition and the next day criminal proceedings against Oskanian began”.
Nevertheless, Mr. Kyuyumjian cannot demand the prosecutor’s resignation. He avoids considering the case political, but he calls on others to be careful: there is no evidence against Vartan Oskanian.
