Nalbandyan meets UN Secretary General

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan met with the United Nations Secretary General Baqn Ki-moon on October 1.

Welcoming the Armenian foreign minister, Ban Ki-moon asked him to convey his warmest regards to President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, saying that Armenia is notable for its active foreign policy.

At the request of the UN Secretary General, E. Nalbandyan spoke about the current stage of the Karabakh problem settlement.

The foreign minister appreciated the unambiguous response of the UN Secretary General and other structures of the United Nations to the release of the murderer Safarov.

E. Nalbandyan and Ban Ki-moon exchanged views on the problems facing the UN, the process of reforms in that organization, and the Millennium Development and Sustainable Development Goals. In the light of the Copenhagen and Dubai summits, Ban Ki-moon attached importance to signing the climate change agreement with binding force until 2015.

Ban Ki-moon expressed satisfaction with the assistance given by the Armenian authorities to the staff of the UN Office in Armenia.
