Oskanian's issue to be raised at PACE
Naira Zohrabyan, an MP of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), is going to raise the petition of Armenian Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovseptyan on involving BHK lawmaker Vartan Oskanian as a defendant in a ‘money laundering' case in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). Zohrabyan, a member of the Armenian delegation to the PACE, announced the decision on Monday.
At the same time, she stressed that the petition filed by the RA Prosecutor General has no legal grounds.
"We have witnessed similar acttions against the Prosperous Armenia Party since the party refused to join the coalition. The persecution is targeted at Oskanian as a key figure of the BHK," Naira Zohrabyan said adding that she see serious political component behind the accusations.
Zohrabyan will leave for Strasbourg on Oct. 2.
"Stop Persecution of Vartan Oskanian" political initiative reports that Oskanian's aides today were banned from taking to the National Assembly a package of documents related to the ‘money laundering' charges brought against Oskanian.
