Democratic Fatherland Party will not have its nominee for the 2013 presidential elections. The party will support an alternative candidate, if there isn't such candidate, the party will assume observer's position, says Petros Makeyan, Chairman of Democratic Fatherland.

He says it does not matter whether that candidate is Levon Ter Petrosyan or someone else. It is important that he unite the political field in order to become a convincing alternative.

"If the center of power I am talking about is not formed, a "legitimate" president will be elected," he predicted.

Makeyan says the recent local government elections have proved once again that the electoral system is warped during elections, with new forms of fraud being applied at each election.

The leader of Democratic Fatherland party is displeased with the opposition Armenia Congress (HAK) and criticizes the bloc's activity starting spring 2011.

In reply to A1+'s observation that the new mayor of Gyumri city has ‘inherited' from [ex-mayor] Vardan Ghukasyan not only the position, but also debts, Mr Makeyan said, "They know numerous ways of settling accounts, starting from gangland-style shoot-outs to applying to "big fish."
